Hollywoodland
"Hollywoodland"
(Music and Lyrics by Loren Christopher Michaels - 2002)
Harlow came to greet her as Rita turned her head
and Gable winked as he gave her his arm.
Betty Davis stood in wonder as Wallace Berry cleared the way
for Capra's lens to capture all her charm.
And I know that Leo G. stood open mouthed
while W.C. tipped his hat
and Buster Keaton took a fall.
Spencer Tracy just stood and stared
while Cagney said to Fred Astaire
tell Benny and Glenn to play her favorite song.
All the stars began to gather.
When on that cold December drive
Bobbi said goodbye to the one's she loved.
Even though the world got smaller
the heavens opened up and
all of Hollywoodland turned out when she arrived.
Orson cleared the dance floor, as music filled the night.
When Jimmy Stewart caught her beauty he simply bowed.
Bud and Lou raced to meet her to be the first to trip the light,
but Chaplin stole the dance without a sound.
And I know that Leo G. stood open mouthed
while W.C. tipped his hat
and Buster Keaton took a fall.
Gary Cooper stood with Ray Milland
while Edward G. held out his hand and
Bobbi brushed his cheek and made him smile.
All the stars began to gather.
When on that cold December drive
Bobbi said goodbye to the one's she loved.
Even though the world got smaller
the heavens opened up and
all of Hollywoodland turned out when she arrived.
